Berryhill is an oak wood situated at the Stafford end of the Showground and is owned by the Staffordshire & Birmingham Agricultural Society. The wood is managed during the two days of the County Show, accordingly, if you visit the wood during the Show you will be able to see how management is helping to restore this beautiful wood. Trees are felled each day, extracted by horse to a mobile sawmill where they are planked and beamed. Some of the timber is cleft, some turned and used by other woodland craft demonstrators. All of it is used. There is a whole fascinating world of traditional crafts demonstrated, from trees to finished product. Berryhill Wood also has a woodland trail and a picnic area. It is situated just past the Country Pursuit Area and is well worth a visit. We intend to have a full range of livestock classes at the Show. However, under current regulations only livestock from within the same zone as the Showground will be allowed to attend the Show. At present the Showground is in the Surveillance Zone, however, given the volatile nature of the situation the zone boundaries could have changed markedly by the end of May. Accordingly, I would encourage you to enter your livestock even if you are not currently in the same zone as the Showground. Any exhibitor that is prevented from attending the Show due to Bluetongue regulations will be given a full and immediate refund of all stall and other fees. Regular updates on the situation regarding livestock at the Show will be available on our website, however, responsibility for ensuring livestock is eligible to attend the Show will remain with the exhibitor and you are, therefore, requested to consult the DEFRA website for further advice and guidance. We would like to reassure pig exhibitors that as Bluetongue regulations do not apply to pigs we are able to accept entries from anywhere in the UK.
